MEDIA RELEASE: HealthCube wins national ICT innovation award
Media Release: E-health solution for Aged Care wins national ICT innovation award
A combination of innovative software development and a practical appreciation of the needs of the Aged Care industry has produced a healthcare solution which has been recognised this evening at the 2009 iAwards.
HealthCube's Aged Care Medical Assessment Service was tonight announced by the Australian Information Industry Association as the national winner of the 2009 iAward for e-Health, presented to the most innovative ICT solution that supports superior outcomes across the broad spectrum of services and activities delivered by healthcare professionals.
HealthCube's innovative solution efficiently compiles Comprehensive Medical Assessments and thereby delivering real improvements to the quality of care for the 170,000 Australians currently living in aged care facilities.
HealthCube's Aged Care Medical Assessment Service brings together an efficient team structure and advanced clinical workflow supported by purpose-built software to compile Comprehensive Medical Assessments to a common, accessible format. Access to a baseline health profile by a variety of healthcare providers assists aged care staff and/or GPs to optimise care plans through the immediate access to timely up-to-date patient information. The Service also facilitates and streamlines care transfers in the event of a medical emergency.
HealthCube is a Canberra based start-up business that has already demonstrated the worth of its new service. The Aged Care Medical Assessment Service has been developed in collaboration with aged care providers through a successful pilot project with leading aged care provider Baptist Community Services - NSW & ACT. This has led to early market interest and the need for HealthCube to rapidly scale its services to meet demand.
Sue Irvine, Chief Executive Officer of HealthCube received the 2009 iAward at this evening's presentation in Melbourne.
‘This award demonstrates the ability of small innovative businesses to have a large impact. HealthCube's services have the potential to substantially improve the quality of life and health outcomes of the 170,000 Australians currently living in aged care facilities. The potential for applications of the HealthCube solution across other sectors of health care are extensive'.
